The Dutch Reformed Church Moeder
Gemeente was founded in 1821. The
building was only completed in 1832
Back then it was much smaller but still in
the basic shape of a cross. The building
was enlarged many times over the years
and the last refurbishment was in 1961
The first reverend was Henry Sutherland
a Scotsman. The renowned Andrew
Murray also presided over this congregation.
