TSHWANE CRATER

220 000 Years ago a blazing stony meteorite
the size of half a rugby field slammed into the
earth’s crust. A huge crater, 1,4km in diameter
and 200m deep was formed. The Tshwane
Crater is situated 40km north of the city of
Tshwane. It is one of the best preserved
meteorite impact sites in the world.
