The restored Joubert House, one of the oldest houses in Montagu, was built in 1853 by Pieter Gideon Joubert (Jr.). It is claimed that the outbuilding was the first jail in Montagu. This domestic museum hosted a celebratory lunch on 5 May 1880 and part of the original dinner service used by President Paul Kruger on that occasion can be seen in the dining room where the banquet took place.
