The graceful Blue Crane is South Africa’s national bird. It has been
brought back from near extinction by the combined efforts of the
business and private sectors of the Overberg. The farmland,
consisting mostly of the short, open grassland-type of cultivation such
as barley, wheat and canola, is the ideal breeding ground for the Blue
Crane.
